curly, the healing sloth

Ruth came to me because her brother Robbie was diagnosed with cancer. He told her one day that sloths can cure cancer, so we made this little protective friend, and called him Curly.

Less than one month later, Robbie passed.

“My mom would love to engrave your sloth on his urn,” she wrote to me. I’m so humbled, I’m so heartbroken. I have no words.

My whole heart is with this beautiful girl and her family. She said Curly the sloth brought her comfort in the days after his death. To think that anything I draw might improve someone’s mood on the worst day of their life, I’m in awe.
