Tattoo conventions are a great way to meet people, but they can be super overwhelming.

Philly’s Villain Arts Convention over the weekend was like this. Don’t get me wrong, I love traveling with my best friends to tattoo in new cities. It’s just that this time, my husband got deathly ill right before, and I wasn’t feeling much better, so we had to skip the first day. And that threw my plans into a bit of chaos. Then to walk into the convention and see the huge amount of tattooers and visitors and events and performances — it was a lot.

But that all that disappears when a special connection sparks up with a client. Then it’s just us in the room.

This is Kim’s first tattoo. She waited until she knew very confidently what she wanted, who she wanted, and had a big budget to invest for her skin. My dream client! haha

I’m so grateful every time someone trusts me with their first tattoo. It’s such an honour.
